About Châtel
Châtel is a village in France’s Haute-Savoie region and a base for the Portes du Soleil ski area. A cable car runs from the center to the Super-Châtel piste, which has panoramic mountain views, and summer hiking and biking trails. The village is known for its Alpine chalets, aquatic center and La Vieille Douane museum, which presents the history of smuggling in the area. Nearby Lake Vonnes offers trout fishing.

Either a walk or free bus shuttle service (with a 2-way stop in front of the apartment entrance) gives you easy access to the 2 ski lifts in Châtel (Super Châtel and Gabelou) with direct links to the resorts of Avoriaz, Torgon, Morgins with access to Portes du Soleil, one of the biggest ski areas in the world; with cross-border skiing, 196 high-tech ski lifts, 286 slopes and 650 km of marked pistes spread over 14 valleys between 2400 and 900m altitude. Portes du Soleil offers world-class snow-making facilities to extend the skiable season, typically from December to mid to late April.
Situated on the French/Swiss border, Châtel is a genuine alpine village that has expanded from its farming heritage into a charming, picturesque ski resort, one of 12 Portes du Soleil villages with ski pistes that accommodate all abilities, offering year-round sports and leisure activities. Châtel is easily accessible by car, train or plane (Geneva). All in all, Châtel is a great all-season family vacation resort.

In summer, a world-renowned Bike Park
Chatel's Bike Park is dedicated to MTB fans and located on the Pre-la-Joux/Plaine Dranse sector. There are around 20 perfectly shaped tracks, adapted to all levels, that will keep the most demanding riders happy, as well as beginners.
You can also try electric MTB... Come the summer, everything's possible! Chatel is a giant adventure playground. Diverse, massively entertaining, unexpected and surprising, the mountains exist in all shapes and sizes.
